Parvovirus Notice: Although we rarely see canine Parvovirus (CPV), we want all of our adopters to be aware although the dogs in our care appear healthy now, they could potentially break with the virus after adoption. Parvo is not only seen by shelters and rescue, but also by breeders and pet stores across the country. We try to save these dogs from the most reputable shelters and rescues, which quarantine their dogs and are vet checked prior to coming. However, we want all of our adopters to be aware of the possibility. All of our foster homes take special precautions and provide the most sanitized and disinfected environment possible.
- I know I should not take my pet to any place where a high volume of dogs have been, because my puppy can be exposed to viruses and diseases at these places (Pet Stores etc.) until they are further vaccinated and a little older.
- I am aware this dog appears healthy at this time to myself and the agency, but I understand that could change. I understand East Coast Adoption Agency does not know what these dogs were potentially exposed to prior to receiving them.
- I understand East Coast Adoption Agency does not test for parvo because the dogs have to be showing signs of illness in order for the test to be accurate, and a false negative will occur.
- I understand that veterinary bills can range from hundreds to thousands of dollars for the treatment of this illness.
- I understand East Coast Adoptions and its affiliates, do not reimburse for any incurred veterinary bills or adoption fees after I take my dog home. As they are a non-profit and lemon laws etc, do not apply to shelters or rescues.
- I will read the email from the agency about signs and symptoms and seek proper veterinary care if my dog shows any signs of illness. I plan to take my dog to the vet within 14 days of adoption.
- I understand I have the option not only to sign up for the free health insurance, but know I can sign up for a higher plan ($30-50 a month), which would provide higher coverage if an illness or accident were to occur. I understand I should do this as soon as possible, since coverage begins at midnight the day I call.
Default. Adopter understands that any failure to abide by the terms and conditions of this Agreement will constitute a breach of contract. In the event of any such breach of contract, Adopter authorizes Rescuer to reclaim both possession and ownership of the Adopted Animal without notice to the Adopter. Adopter agrees to pay Rescuer the sum of $500.00, for each breach, as liquidated damages in the event the terms of this Agreement are breached; this liquidated damage value does not bar Rescuer from seeking the return of the Adoptive Animal by judicial process or other legal means if necessary. If legal action is instituted, the Adopter agrees to pay Rescuer’s reasonable attorney’s fees and court costs. There will be a $1,000 fine paid to the rescue, for breeding your adoptive animal (male or female), in addition to any other breaches. Rescue reserves the right to seize offspring from the bred dog (even after they were sold), as well as the dog itself.
Notice. Any notice by either party to the other shall be in writing and shall be deemed to be duly given only if delivered personally or mailed by registered or certified mail in a postpaid envelope addressed to the addresses hereinabove set forth.
Inspections. Rescuer may enter the Adopter’s property and/or home at any reasonable time, upon reasonable notice to the Adopter, for the purposes of inspection to make sure the home and/or property is suitable for the Adoptive Animal.

Waiver; Remedies Cumulative. The rights and remedies of the parties to this Agreement are cumulative and not alternative. Neither any failure nor any delay by any party in exercising any right, power or privilege under this Agreement or any of the documents referred to in this Agreement will operate as a waiver of such right, power or privilege, and no single or partial exercise of any such right, power or privilege will preclude any other or further exercise of such right, power or privilege or the exercise of any other right, power or privilege.

Entire Agreement. This Agreement represents the entire agreement between the parties regarding its subject matter and may not be amended or modified except in writing signed by each party.
Governing Law; Venue. This Agreement will be governed by and construed under the laws of the State of New York without regard to conflicts-of-laws principles that would require the application of any Other law.
